579,770. Centrifugal compressors. HAWORTH, L. Oct. 4, 1943, No. 16249. Drawings to Specification. [Class 110 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] The tip edge of the impeller blades or the leading edge of the fixed diffuser blades, or both are shaped so that the distance between them, measured in the general direction of flow, varies along the length of the edges. This may be effected by mounting an appropriately shaped tool coaxially with the impeller casing and shaping the leading edge of the diffuser vanes by a turning operation.
