Abstract

576,806. Valves. DEX INDUSTRIES, Ltd., and THOMAS, E. M. June 26, 1944, No. 12087. [Class 135] A valve for regulating the flow of fluids under pressure comprises a piston valve member D' having an axial bore D<2> and a longitudinal slit D<3> which co-operates with a bore in a seat member B<1> to control the flow of fluid from an inlet conduit B to an outlet C. The piston valve D' is carried by a screwed plug D<4> which has a conical portion adapted to seat on to a seating B<2> on the seat member B<1>, in the fully closed position of the valve, and a passage D <5> to allow the fluid to pass to the outlet C. The plug D<4> is rotated by a winged nut E through a conical stem F having a key and slot connection F' with the plug. The conical surface of the stem F has circumferential grooves F<2> packed with grease and is pressed into engagement with a seating F<3> by a spring G to ensure a gastight seal.
