Abstract

563,985. Plate heat exchangers. SKERRETT, W. S. (Aktiebolaget Rosenblads Patenter). April 15, 1943, No. 6043. [Class 64 (iii)] In a heat exchanger formed from a pair of spirally-wound plates 1, 2 which provide two spiral channels 3, 4 for the passage of the heat exchanging fluids, the plates are axially displaced so that each projects beyond the other at opposite ends or sides of the exchanger in such a manner that the end cover plate 7 at either end is required to make joint only with the plate which projects at that end. The ends of the channels 3, 4 opposite to the ends fitted with the covers 7 are permanently sealed by flat strip-like spiral members 6, Fig. 1, or L-shaped members 6a, Fig. 3, which are welded between the plates 1, 2 at or near the margins thereof.
