561,756. Water-tube boilers ; steam superheaters. BABCOCK & WILCOX Ltd. Nov. 27, 1942, No. 16870. Convention date, Dec. 4, 1941. [Classes 64 (iii), 123 (ii) and 123 (iii)] [Also in Group XII] The tubes 50, 50<1> of a wall between the gases passes of a boiler are held in position relatively to one another, and the passage of gases between the tubes is prevented or limited by short bars 90, 91 welded in vertical groups A, B along the tubes and contacting with adjacent tubes, the bars in each vertical group being on the opposite sides of the tubes to those in adjacent groups. Alternate tubes are secured to a cross channel-bar 60 by lugs 62' welded to the tubes, the lugs being passed through holes 68 in the bar and locked in position by pins 74. The wall is arranged between a radiant-heat pass and the convection-heat pass of the boiler described in Specification 549,151, and serves as a steam reheater. - Superheating tubes 100 in the convection-heat pass are tied to the cross-bar by looped rods 102. The reheater may be supported from the superheater header by rods.
