566,687. Apparatus for treating paper pulp. COWLES CO. Dec. 31, 1943, No. 21901. Convention date, Nov. 18, 1942. [Class 96] [Also in Group II] Apparatus for treating paper pulp, dissolving solids, gases or liquids, in liquids, paint mixing, or preparing emulsions, comprises an impeller 16, Figs. 3 and 4, formed as an imperforate disc thickened to form diverging surfaces, at the rim, which carry vanes 18 projecting upwardly and downwardly from the disc, whereby two diverging vortices are formed. The impeller may be coaxial with a cylindrical tank having parts blocked-off to avoid " dead spots " or sluggish circulation. In modifications, gas is supplied upwardly into the tank ; a series of impeller blades are spaced apart on a single shaft. Specification 537,761 is referred to.
