Abstract
564,901. Spring vehicle wheels. GIBSON, F. C. March 2, 1943, No. 3450. Convention date, Nov. 9, 1942. [Class 144 (i)] Single or laminated quarter-elliptic tangentially-arranged springs 6 are immovably secured to an outer rim 4, their inner ends being connected to links 10 pivoted to brackets 12 secured to an inner rim 3 which either forms a permanent part of the wheel or, as shown, is attachable to an existing wheel rim, as by clips 2. The reaction of the springs tends to maintain the links in radial directions. As shown, the links consist of spaced parallel side members connected by two pivot pins, and are pivoted between side cheeks of the brackets 12 which maintain them against lateral displacement. Two or more rings of spring members 6 may be used. A rubber or other tyre 5 may be provided. Annular cover-plates 15, 16 are secured to flanges on the rims 3, 4 respectively, a sealing ring 19 being secured to each plate. 16 and held in sliding contact with the plate 15.
