Abstract

Stone-like products, e.g. for arc shoots for air circuit-breakers, which may be produced directly by hot moulding, comprise asbestos fibres such as chrysotile, mixed with orthophosphoric acid of concentration exceeding 60 per cent, moulded under heat and pressure, e.g. at 140 DEG C. and 3,000 to 6,000 lbs. per sq. in. for 3 to 10 mins. The products, which may be laminated, and may be machined, are electric insulators of low water-absorption. Specification 423,639 is referred to.
