551,831. Hydrogen peroxide. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. (Du Pont de NEMOURS & CO., E. I.). Sept. 9, 1941, No. 11525. Drawings to Specification. [Class 1 (ii)] [Also in Group IV] A peroxide bleaching bath of pH=11.5 or higher is stabilized !by a readily soluble magnesium salt together with an alkali metal pyrophosphate. The bath may comprise dilute hydrogen peroxide with added alkali, e.g. caustic soda or soda ash, or alternatively 0.75 to 6.0 pounds of solium peroxide per 100 U.S. gallons of bleach bath; and as stabilizer may be used Mg SO 4 . 7H 2 O and Na 4 P 2 O 7 . 10H 2 O in proportions 1 : 2 to 13 and in quantity 3 to 8oz. or more of MgSO 4 .7H 2 O per 100 gallons of bleach bath.
