559,296. Ointments. LEWENSTEIN, M. J. Feb. 3, 1942, No. 1431. Convention date, Jan. 28, 1941. [Class 81 (i)] Ointments are prepared by incorporating monomeric or polymeric thio-cyclohexanone, thio-methylethyl ketone or thio-diethyl ketone in a viscous base, preferably comprising a soap such as ammonium stearate and glycerine. Octylalcohol is a suitable addition as a skin penetrant. Diluents such as petrolatum may be added. A suitable base may be produced by mixing stearine, octyl alcohol and petrolatum, saponifying with ammonia and then mixing with the active thio body.
