Abstract
559,149. Measuring pressure. NEGRETTI, H. N., NEGRETTI, P. E., and MILLER, J. T. July 30, 1942, No. 10694. [Class 40 (i)] [Also in Group XIX] A pressure gauge which may be a fuel pressure gauge for use on aircraft, comprises in combination a stack of diaphragms or bellows attached at one end to a pressure chamber, a member of magnetic material attached to the free end of the bellows, a coil with which the member co-operates, and a Wheatstone bridge circuit in which the coil forms part of one arm, an indicating instrument is arranged across one diagonal and an alternating current is connected across the other diagonal. As shown in Fig. 1 a stack of diaphragms of bellows A is enclosed in a chamber CH with an inlet pipe ia connected to the source of pressure. The bellows A is situated over an outlet aperture oa in a fluid tight manner and attached to the bellows is a soft iron core CO which extends into a solenoid C constituting one arm of a Wheatstone bridge circuit that has an indicating instrument across one direction and is connected to a source of alternating current. In an alternative form the bellows may be situated over the pressure inlet while the core is attached to the bottom of and outside the bellows.
