Abstract

556,671. Separating liquids from gases. BRADLEY, M. F. April 27. 1942, No. 5619. Convention date, May 27, 1941. [Class 1 (i)] A device for separating entrained liquids from gases comprises two concentric cylinders 1, 3 forming an annular passage 2 into which the gas is admitted by a tangential inlet 11 so that it traverses the passage helically, after which it flows helically upward through the inner cylinder to the outlet 4. Liquid collects in a sump 5 at the bottom of the apparatus, protected by a baffle 5a and is withdrawn through pipe 8. The apparatus may be surrounded by a heat-exchange jacket.
