To counterbalance the weight of the gun or guns during elevation the bar d is connected by arms g and links m to the free ends of quarter-elliptic laminated springs k anchored at 0 to a lower crossbar with provision for initial adjustment by screws p. The handles may be provided with levers connected by Bowden cables with the firing mechanism of the gun or guns.
