Abstract
554,584. Drafting fibres. BRITISH COTTON INDUSTRY RESEARCH ASSOCIATION, and DAKIN, G. April 18, 1942, No. 5195. [Class 120 (ii)] In drafting fibres in spinning and similar machines the fibres are controlled between the drawing rollers by a loose control member arranged in close proximity to the forward pair of rollers and coacting with a conveying apron, the member being so fashioned, disposed, and constrained that it is capable of to and fro rotational and translational motions of limited range during the drafting process. As shown in Fig. 1 the loose control member 10 has end pieces or lugs 13 engaging extensions 14 on the side plates 6 of the cradle supporting the apron 3 and in Fig. 5, lugs or end-pieces 13<SP>1</SP> on the member 10<SP>1</SP> loosely engage the cap-nebs 15 of the drawing head. The lugs may have faces normal to the plane face of the member resting on the apron or may have faces inclined therto. The ends of the control member may have slots to engage the cap-nebs or constraining stops; the lugs or slots may be of hexagonal form.
