Abstract

548,897. Vehicle underframes. FISHER & LUDLOW, Ltd., and PERCIVAL, J. July 5, 1941 No. 8508. [Class 108 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXI] Box section side frame members are made from two spaced elongated sheets having: (a) bent transverse extensions forming (or connected to parts forming) the upper and lower closures; and (b) parts pressed inwards intermediate their longitudinal edges and welded or otherwise connected where they meet. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the side sheets 10, 11 are bent to form the closure parts 16, 15 respectively the two being welded at 17. This box section is pressed inwards at intervals as shown at 26 in Fig. 5, the pressings being welded where they abut. Alternative sections are shown in Figs. 6-10.
