Abstract

547,495. Air-raid shelters. COLLINS, F. E. Feb. 28, 1941, No. 2741. [Class 20 (i)] A bell-shaped metal air-raid shelter of the kind described in Specification 518,165 has the body formed in two detachably connected complementary sheet metal sections there being a door provided in the wall of the cell. The body is formed in two axial sections A, B provided with edge lugs 14 which are joined in abutting relationship by bolts 15. The shelter is provided with a door 1 which can be fastened from inside or outside and is bodily removable, as described in Specification 526,126, and may be further provided with a base in one or two sections and which is removable from inside the shelter, as described in Specification 532,663. The walls of the sections forming the cell may be of hollow construction, as described in Specification 538,144. Specifications 504,642, 525,914 and 527,646, also are referred to.
