Abstract

532,090. Electric incandescent lamps. CROOK, E. W., and HEIGHWAY, T. J. W. Aug. 17, 1939, No. 23734. Convention date, Aug. 29, 1938. [Class 39 (ii)] The upper and lower halves of the glass envelope of an electric lamp bulb A are so formed that when the bulb is mounted in a parabolic reflector B, the rays of light passing through to the lower half of the reflector are projected forwardly in a beam having a horizontal top edge passing across the axis of the reflector, while the rays of light passing to the top half of the reflector are projected to coincide with those reflected by the lower half. Either or both of the halves C, D, of the bulb are formed with a variable thickness, and the filament suitably positioned in the bulb. The front of the bulb may contain, or be formed as, a reflector, and a shield may surround the filament in its horizontal plane.
