Abstract
523,311. Cores for dynamo-electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Dec. 30, 1938, No. 37877. Convention date, Dec. 30, 1937. [Class 35] In a two pole rotor, more particularly for a high speed synchronous machine, consisting of iron discs clamped together by axially extending bolts some of which are in the pole centres, two additional bolts are disposed in the neutral zones between the poles and the winding slots in' these zones are less deep than the other rotor slots. In the form shown, bolts g1 g3 are placed in the centres of the poles p1 p2 and the bolts g2 g4 are inserted at the required radial distance from the rotor axis without fouling the flanges w of the two bolted-on shaft journals d by making the adjacent slots b in the neutral zones shallower than the remaining slots a. Slots x in the flanges w allow insertion of the bolts g2, g4. Sunk studs or the like r extend into adjacent discs to prevent relative circumferential movement thereof. The heads of the outermost coils in the neutral zones are made of less height than the others, thereby giving additional access for cooling air to the coils. Slots h are provided in the pole-faces for damping windings k.
