Abstract
526,030. Alloys; annealing. CONSOLIDATED MINING & SMELTING CO. OF CANADA, Ltd. Feb. 28, 1939, No. 6624. Convention date, April 2, 1938. [Classes 72 and 82 (i)] Austenic stainless steel alloys contain 10 - 20 per cent. of chromium, up to 0.15 per cent. of carbon, and 10 - 35 per cent. of manganese containing not more than 0.15 per cent. of silicon and aluminium as impurities. Other constituents such as 2 per cent. of copper, and up to 5 per cent. of nickel, may also be present. An example consisting of 47 per cent. of iron, 15 per cent. of chromium, 34 per cent. of manganese, 2 per cent. of nickel, and 2 per cent. of copper may be hardened by quenching from 1100‹C. and reheating to 600‹C.
