Abstract

512,356. Hinges; stud-and-slot fastenings. HONE, A. C. July 6, 1938, No. 20047. [Classes 44 and 65 (ii)] [Also in Group XIV] A music stool or the like is convertible into a table by reversing the lid 11 which is upholstered on one side only. The lid 11 is connected to the box-part 10 by a hinge comprising an angle member 18 which is pivoted to the attachment plates 12, 23 by pins 17, 20 arranged with their axes at right angles to one another. The headed pin 20 is rivetted to a socket 21 integral with the attachment plate 23 and rotates in a sleeve 19 integral with the member 18. Washers 24 may be provided between the socket 21 and sleeve 19. The member 18 and attachment plate 12 are provided with lips 15, 18a to limit the opening movement of the lid. The lid is provided with a locking catch comprising a spring-loaded pin 26 having a reduced portion 28 and a catch plate 33. To open the lid the pin 26 is pulled outwards until the reduced portion which may pass through the neck 35 is in the slot 32.
