Abstract

517,089. Stays for hinged articles. BROOKS & CO., Ltd., J. B., and TIPPING, W. E. Aug. 17, 1938, No. 24204. [Class 65 (i)] A stay for the lids of trunks &c. comprises a W-shaped member 4 pivoted at 3c to the lid and pivoted at 6 to a V-shaped link 5 pivoted to the body at 3d. When the lid is opened, the stay automatic-. ally opens to form a supporting leg for the lid as in Fig. 3, and prevents tipping up of the trunk 2. W-shaped stays 8 pivoted to the hinges 7 slide at their lower ends in slots in the lower hinge flaps.
