Abstract

509,595. Moulding concrete &c. conduits. NORMAN, J. W. E. Nov. 3, 1938, No. 30069/37. [Class 87 (ii)] In machines for moulding conduits from concrete or other plastic material comprising a number of rotating plungers or cores 1 vertically suspended from a verticallymovable carriage 4 and adapted to enter one or more moulds 6, tamping rods 9 are provided around the cores and gradually rise during moulding, the rods being suspended from a movable platform 10 carrying means for vibrating them. The cores 1 may be rotated about their axes by gearingorflexible cables from an electric motor 3. The carriage 4 is raised and lowered from a winch 5. The platform 10 is moved by cables 11 and a clockcontrolled winch 15 and the tampers may be reciprocated by cams 13 from a motor 14. The tampers may be operated by mounting electric or pneumatic vibrators on the platform 10 or successively from a cam track. They may drop under spring action. The cores may be provided with inclined presser elements as described in Specification 462,431. The carriage 4 may be counterbalanced. The mould 6 may be in two parts mounted on a base 7 having apertures 8 engaged by the cores. The mould may be shaped as at 19 to provide a socket end and may be provided with vibrators 18.
