[Class 18] In a container for cigarettes or similarly-shaped objects, in the form of a wrapper or refill box having means for dispensing the cigarettes one by one, comprising a feeder actuated by a coiled spring and an ejecting device with a returning spring, the coiled spring surrounds a stationary rectilinear wire member which guides the spring and extends along, and adjacent to one of the larger side walls of the container. Fig. 3 shows a cardboard container, to be thrown away after use, made by folding up the blank-of-Fig. 2, and comprising a coiled spring 13 surrounding the vertical limb of a #- shaped wire strip 12. The spring is kept compressed, when the container is full, by (a) a feed plate 14, tongues 17 on which pass through slots 18 in the base of the cardboard, box and grip a transversely removable cardboard sheet 19, or (b) a wire feed member 114, the U-shaped part 117 of which depends within the spring and is similarly secured by a. cardboard sheet. In a metal drawer-and-shell refill box, a coiled spring 35 surrounds a strip 34 of wire or sheet metal soldered to the base of the shell and to a tongue projecting from the top of a groove 33 in the shell in which the strip is housed. Alternatively, the strip may be formed by punching from a longitudinal strip of metal which is then soldered (if the shell is of metal) or stuck (if the shell is non-metallic) to the shell. The feed member 36 is guided along the strip by a grooved block 38 of wood or synthetic resin.
