Abstract

505,446. Centrifugal machines. BAIRD & TATLOCK (LONDON), Ltd., and FUCHS, H. J. Nov. 10, 1937, No. 30898. [Class 23] A centrifuge has detachable swinging buckets 5 which are supported when the machine is at rest by light flexible supports 6, which when the machine is working are slightly deformed so that the base of each bucket 5 rests on an inner face of the rotor shell 1. Each bucket moves in a slot 2 in a spoke 3 of the rotor, and the flexible supports 6 terminate in balls 7 which rest on the rotor and engage the undercut surface 4 when the buckets move outwards. The buckets are made of a light alloy with a large part of the weight concentrated in their bases. A convex lid 12 covers the rotor and engages at its edge with the ridge 9. The Provisional Specification states that three resilient members, each including rubber balls in a telescope cage, support the assembly by its upper rim, and a fourth resi- ,Iient member connects the base of the motor casing to the central part of the frame.
