Abstract
504,138. Liquid - break switches. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. Jan. 6, 1938, No. 430. Convention date, Jan. 7, 1937. [Class 38 (v)] An H.T. circuit-breaker comprises a plurality of series-connected breaking gaps arranged in extinguishing chambers which are entirely separated from one another and partly filled with an arc-extinguishing medium, the chambers forming a column mounted on an insulator. The Figure shows a two-break structure combined with a disconnecting-switch arm 4. The compartments comprise, respectively, the insulator 5 and metal housing 6, and the insulator 7 and metal housing 8, and each is shown as containing an extinguishing chamber 10, 12, the whole being mounted on a column insulator 1 with intermediate metal housing 3. A rotatable operating-insulator 2 extending into a part of housing 3 ends in a stub 18 carrying a crank 19, which operates the shaft 21 of arm 4 by means of the lever 22 and link 23 with universal joints 24, 25. Above the partition 26 in housing 3, the shaft 18 carries an arm 27, the free end of which takes in a groove in an arm 29 on a further shaft comprising insulators 31, 33 and shafts 32, 34, the latter being connected to their respective movable contacts 13, 15 by similar mechanism. Thus, the shaft 32 carries a lever 35 having a link and universal joint connection 36 with a lever 37 which is pivoted at 38 and connected by lever 39 with contact 13. The latter carries a pin working in a guide 16 and is provided with a contact 42 for connection to the fixed contact in chamber 12. Each compartment is vented to atmosphere at 54 and has an oilgauge 56, the oil-level being at the lower bearing of shafts 32, 34 to obviate leakage. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states also that one break-gap may be free and arranged to close the circuit, opening of the circuit being effected at the break having the extinguishing chamber. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
