[Class 65 (ii)] A double acting hinge consisting of a link member 1 to the opposite edges of which are hinged two leaves 3, 4 adapted to be secured to the door and the door frame respectively, has a part 9 attached to the leaf 3 and formed with two recesses 12a which interlock with two projections 16, 16a on a part 15 attached to the leaf 4 so as to cause each leaf to be held in turn against the link member as the door moves upon opposite sides of its closed position. The part 9, Fig. 8, is formed with an elongated recess 10 the middle portion of which is open as at 11 to form the hook-like ends 12, the recesses 12a of which are, in the closed position, in alignment with the axes of the check cylinders 2. A camshaped projection 13 is formed on the wall of the recess opposite the opening 11. The part 15 consists of a triangular plate pivoted at one apex 15a to a lug 14 attached to the leaf 4 with studs 16, 16a at the other corners. If the door is swung to one side out of its closed position the end of the hook-like part 12 acts on the pin 16 and causes the part 15 to swing in the same direction, allowing the pin 16a to swing clear through the opening 11. The hook-like part 12 engaging the stud 16 of the part 15 holds the link member 1 looked to the leaf 4 as the plate 9 is integral with a lug 3a pivoted on one of the pins 5 attached to one of the cylinders 2. If the door is swung to the other side of its normal position, the other hook-like part 12.engages the pin 16a, causing the part 15 to swing in the opposite direction and allow the pin 16 to pass through the opening 11. The hook-like part 12 engaging the pin 16a, Fig. 3, prevents the leaf 3 from swinging away from the link member 1. The cam-shaped projection 13 coacting with the pins 16, 16a returns the part 15 to the midposition when the door is returned to the closed position. The projection 13 may engage the edge of the part 15 instead of the pins for the same purpose. Specification 332,858, [Class 65 (i)], is referred to.
