Abstract

491,202. Switches held set and freed mechanically ; momentary - contact switches. LANDIS & GYR AKT.-GES. Feb. 18, 1938, Neo. 5144. Convention date, March 18, 1937. [Class 38 (v)] A measuring device such as an electricity meter 1 sends, as its shaft 2 rotates, a series of current impulses through a switch 9 con. trolled by a secondary source of power 13 and escapement, mechanism. The source of power 13 may be a motor, and tends to rotate through gearing 11 a casing 10 connected by a spring to a shaft 5 carrying arms 3, 4, one of which engages the shaft 2 so as to prevent the shaft 5 rotating till a flat on the shaft 2 frees the arm. The shaft 5 then rotates through 180‹ being then stopped by the other arm 4, which is released in turn when the shaft 2 has turned further. Each 180‹ rotation of the shaft 5 tilts a mercury switch 9 causing the momentary closing of the circuit. In a modification, Fig. 2, the auxiliary source of power is a spring 32 which through a lever 22 and gearing drives the shaft 5. The spring 32 is re-energized by a magnet 24 when it contracts sufficiently for contacts 27, 28 to close.
