Abstract
496,634. Wireless receiving - apparatus ; aerials. HUBER, E. April 14, 1938, No. 11612. Convention date, April 16, 1937. [Class 40 (v)] In a receiver having a frame aerial, the winding of the aerial, the leads from the aerial to the receiver, and at least the input stage of the receiver are enclosed within an electrostatic screen, the screening around the aerial being interrupted at one point but being effectively continuous electrostatically. The frame windings 11, coupling conductors 19, 20 and the first stage of the receiver are screened respectively by the aerial tube 12, screening means 27, and the casing 2. The screening means 27 is conductively connected to the casing 2 at the point 28 and to the tube 12 by means of the bridge 29, the metal coating of the rotatable lead 5, and the bridge 30. The ends of the tube 12 are insulated from the head 5 by the dielectric sleeves 31 to prevent the tube forming a short circuit turn. Alternatively the tube may be directly connected to the head 5 and split at its upper mid point. The two halves overlap and are insulated from one another to provide uninterrupted screening, Fig. 2. The head 5 is mounted on the mast 1 by ball-bearings and may be rotated by wormgear 8.
