Abstract
483,652. Links of flexible strips. SINKOVICH, D. Oct. 21, 1936, No. 28634. [Class 80 (iii)] [Also in Group X] A mast, post, or strut is formed of preferably pre-curved flexible strip material, the edges of which are interlocked by means of a separate continuous member, itself capable of being wound on a drum or reel. The edges of the flexible strip or strips 1, 2 are notched at 13, and are adapted to be interlocked and raised by means of pins 10, which constitute the pivots of links 12 of flexible chains which are unwound from drums 3. The pins 10 are of elongated cross-section and are welded to the outer links at their ends, so that as these links turn to lie along the direction of the post, the pivots are turned and are locked in the key-holed recesses in the flexible strips. Bearings 7 are provided on the pivot ends, adapted to be engaged by hooks disposed on the links of endless raising chains 9. The edges of the strips may be thickened and the links 12 of the joining means may embrace the edges of the strips. The strips may be preformed to curve inwardly or outwardly.
