Abstract
460,457. Liquid - fuel burners. MONTIGY, G. DE M. DE. Sept. 6, 1935, No. 24916. Convention date, Oct. 8, 1934. [Class 75 (i)] A burner for use in domestic and like stoves comprises an annular cast iron body 2 fitting in the filling opening of the upper cover plate 1 of the stove, a ring 5 resting on a flange 4 in the body 2, a cast iron combustion cap consisting of curved fins 7 and a domed head 6 supported by the ring 5, and a copper screen 10 supported by arms 9 resting on the ring 5. Liquid fuel such as mazut is fed in drops from a reservoir 14 on to the screen 10 where it becomes partially pulverized. The pulverized fuel passes through apertures 11, 12 in the screen on to the dome 6 where it spreads and becomes vaporized by the heat of the flame which is drawn downwards into the stove by the natural air draught. The openings in the grate are closed up or covered with a plate. Initial heating of the burners and ignition is effected by means of a spirit torch.
