460,000. Railway vehicle undercarriages. ORENSTEIN & KOPPEL AKT.-GES., 23, Tempelhofer Ufer, Berlin. June 15, 1936, No. 16651. Convention date, June 15, 1935. [Class 103 (vi)] An axle-box for railway vehicles is connected with the underframe solely by short vertical springs disposed fore-and-aft of the axle and fixed rigidly at the top to the underframe, and at the bottom to flanges or brackets on the axle-box, the springs allowing universal horizontal movement of the axle-box without restraint by guides. The springs may be of rubber a, Fig. 1, vulcanized to plates a<1> fixed by bolts b to the frame c and flange d, the frame having vertical flanges e for protection from light and oil. In Fig. 3, the metal helical spring f is secured by anchor-plates g welded to bolts h and having helically bent rims to form external screw threads corresponding to the springs f. Specifications 270,311 and 333,009, [both in Class 103 (vi)], are referred to.
