Abstract

468,227. Lenses. GUNN, M. J. Jan. 1, 1936, No. 10. [Class 97 (i)] A liquid - containing lens to be used as an objective for telescopes, cameras, &c., has at least one convex surface and is made up of two glass lenses joined together at their peripheries and having opposed surfaces forming a plano-convex or double convex liquid space. Fig. 1 shows a meniscus lens made up of plano-convex and double concave glass elements B<3>, A<7> enclosing a plano-convex space R which is filled with liquid. Fig. 5 shows a double convex lens made up of two dispersive glass menisci G<10> enclosing a double convex space which is divided by a glass plate H<12> into two plano-convex spaces R which may contain liquids of different refractive indices. Specifications 18919/92, 17832 /99, and 6641/03, [all in Class 97], and 101,260, [Class 97 (i)], are referred to.
