468,120. Internally - fired steam boilers. MASCHINENFABRIK BUCKAU R. WOLF AKT.-GES., and HEILMANN, K. Nov. 17,1936, No. 31453. [Class 123 (ii)] In a furnace-flue boiler for use in locomotives, the length of the furnace chamber 1 is increased to 2À6 to 3À3 times its mean diameter while the total length of the boiler remains at about 4 to 5À5 times the diameter of the flue, and at the same time the heat exchange surface beyond the furnace chamber is increased, say by providing smoke tubes 9 of relatively small diameter. The flue may extend to the end of the boiler, cross water-tubes being provided in place of the smoke tubes. The distance 6 between the fire bridge and the smoke or water tubes is 1À2 to 1À5 times the diameter of the flue.
