E.; Ridgewood Road, Akron, Ohio, and Kehoe, B. T. ; Seventh Street, Barberton, Ohio, both in U.S.A.) June 26, 1935, No. 18263. Convention date, Aug. 29, 1934. [Class 99 (i)] In a joint for large hydraulic pipes in which the pipes 1, 2 abut, a strap 3 is united by fillet welds exteriorly and interiorly at 4, 5 to the pipe 1, the overlapping strap having a lap on the welded side at least equal to the thickness of the pipe. The strap is secured to the pipe 2 by rivets 6 which are countersunk at 7 and undercut at 9, a ring of metal 8, formed by grooving round the hole, being swaged into the undercut recess. A reinforcing ring 10 is welded to the pipe 2 at a distance from the strap.
