Abstract

455,999. Furniture underframes. NICHOLSON, C. D. G., 100, Fulham Road, London. May 3, 1935, No. 13239. [Classes 52 (ii) and 52 (iii)] [See also Group XVIII] Articles of furniture, such as chairs and tables, are made from flat rectangular blanks cut symmetrically into similar parts which are engaged by means of complementary slots running from their edges. Fig. 2 shows the substructure of a seat formed by making a Z-shaped cut in a rectangular blank, cutting slots 3, 4, and engaging the slotted parts so as to form a base X-form in plan. Fig. 6 shows a desk or table consisting of two rectangular blanks 14, 15 and a longer blank 11 with complementary slots 12, 13, 16, 17 engaged so as to make a substructure A-formed in plan. Joint pieces 20 are fitted. A counter may be similarly formed. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 185,565, 187,397, and 191,877, [all in Class 52 (v)].
