Abstract

Lubricants which prevent and remove corrosion on metallic surfaces consist of a lubricating oil and a compound of nickel which is not reduced to metal if heated in use. 1,0 per cent of chromate or oleate is suitable. The oil may be mineral, animal, or vegetable, and the chromate is preferably colloidal and free from chlorides or other deleterious impurities. Specification 295,230, [Class 91], is referred to. According to the Provisional Specification the chromate is preferably that prepared as described in Specifications 406,445, 422,860; or 428,375, [Group XXXVI].
