Abstract

442,825. Goggles. LAND, E. H., Wellesley Farms, Massachusetts, U.S.A. June 17, 1935, No. 17422. [Class 97 (i)] Each eyepiece of a pair of goggles or sun glasses consists of a number of transparent elements of polarizing ma terial, at least one element being rotatable so as to vary the opacity of the eyepiece. As shown the eyepieces are mounted in a spectacle frame 10, and each consists of a fixed polarizing element 11 and a polarizing element 12 which is held in lugs 13 so as to be rotatable. The fixed elements are mounted with their optical axes so directed that they do not transmit light polarized by specular reflection from objects in the field of view. The elements 12 may be connected so as to be rotated in synchronism. The polarizing elements are preferably of the kind described in Specification 412,179.
