Abstract

[Class 18] [See also Group XVIII] A device for inserting cash or goods into receptacles or boxes such as safes, night safes, railway collecting chests or boxes, strong-rooms, &c., while inhibiting removal through the insertion opening and also for recording and issuing receipts for deposits, consists of a drawer 1 having an aperture 5 in the bottom which registers with an aperture 6 in the safe &c. and is closed by a hinged flap 12, 13 which is moved to closing position when the drawer is moved to the left to open it by an edge 22 engaging a bar 20 on the flap and to open position when the drawer is closed by the weight of the part 13 and by the engagement of stops 23 with projecting ends of bar 20 so that the final movement of the flap occurs with a jerk, thus facilitating the ejection of the article into the container. When the drawer is open the part 12 of the flap forms part of an inclined front wall 8 of the drawer. A pile of receipts 26 is pressed downwardly by a spring 27 and rests on a slide 28, an aperture in which is engaged by a pivoted finger 44 actuated to move the slide inwards from beneath the receipts by a rod 43 pivoted to an arm 42 on a spindle 37 rotated by the movement of a flap 38 (counterweighted at 39), under the weight of the inserted article. During the opening of the drawer a second slide 29 engaged by a finger 30 pivoted at 31 is moved inwards by a spring 34 which normally presses an arm 33 against a stop 36 on the outer frame. At the end of the closing movement of the drawer, the arm 33 again engages stop 36 and is returned so that slide 28 is moved by slide 29 to eject a receipt. A finger 41 pivoted on spindle 37 and flexible at the middle actuates a counter 47 when it moves in one direction but not when it moves in the other. The drawer may be automatically closed by a spring 17.
