447,650. Dish - washing machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Sept. 11, 1935, No. 25256. Convention date, Sept. 11, 1934. [Class 138 (i)] [See also Group XXV] A hinge structure for attaching the lid 10a to the upper wall 10b of the vat of a dishwashing machine comprises a pair of pivotally interconnected members 12, 18, the former attached to the vat and the latter to the lid and each provided with flexible metallic friction surfaces 13, 19 arranged to engage each other and having means for moving the surfaces to increase the frictional force between them as the lid is opened, so as to hold the lid in its raised position. The hinge member 18, which is carried by a plate 20 secured to the vat lid by bolts 21, is provided with a cover plate 39 and the lid is formed with a vent hole 38 and a baffle 43, while the plates 20, 39 are provided with vent apertures 37, 42.
