Abstract

433,603. Rotary internal-combustion engines. MONNOM, C. H., 10, Rue Africaine, Brussels. Jan. 28, 1935, No. 2767. Convention date, Jan. 29, 1934. [Class 110 (ii)] The engine 6 and a compressor 7, which supplies compressed fuel mixture to the engine, are separated by a partition 4. The rotors 2, 3, are identical and shaped as shown, but angularly displaced by 45‹ so that the abutments 11, 12, may be connected by a rocking lever 13, by which the motion of one abutment, actuated by the cam-shaped rotor, is transferred to the second abutment. Compressed fuel from the compressor, is forced into an outer chamber 19 and fed through valve ports 22 into spaces a and fired by plugs 27. Exhaust ports 28 are provided. Valves 22 are controlled by push-rods 25 and rocking-levers 24, under the action of a cam 26 which is conical in shape so that axial displacement of the cam, by means of a spindle 30 causes the strokes of valves 22 to vary and so control the engine speed. The number of abutments and combustion chambers exceed the number of pistons on the rotor, by one. The stems of the inlet valves 22 are fitted with gas-tight bellows 29. A pinion 31 on the shaft 1 drives an ignition magneto which supplies current to coils 32 connected to sparking-plugs 27.
