422,246. Lenses. LEE, H. W., and KAPELLA, Ltd., 104, Stoughton Street, Leicester. Dec. 22, 1933, No. 36078. [Class 97 (i)] In an anastigmatically corrected objective of the kind comprising a single dispersive element between two single collective elements, and having an aperture greater than f /4, the front air space S is less than half the rear air space S2, and each of the radii R1, R4 lies between the values À35f and À5f. The ratio of the power of the front element to that of the rear element is between 1À1 and 3À0. The ratio of the radius R3 to the radius R4 lies between 1À25 and 2À0, and that of the radius R2 to the radius R1 lies between 2À5 and 5À0. The refractive index of the dispersive element is preferably at least 2 per cent higher than that of one of the collective elements, the refractive index of one or both of the collective elements being at least 1À57 and that of the front element being at most 1À60.
