429,821. Centrifugal pumps. KINGSFORD INDUSTRIAL & TRADING CO., Ltd., 61, Moorgate, London, and LEMALE, P. C., 7, Rue d'Argenteuil, Paris. Jan. 22, 1935, No. 2141. [Class 110 (i)] A vacuum pump or vapour condenser has a rotary impeller 1 which delivers liquid jets 10 to the space between circular ejector plates 6, the jets being united when they reach the peripheries of the discs. The pipe 18 opens into the chamber 5 across which the liquid jets pass, and is connected to the space to be exhausted or to the evaporator. The impeller is formed of two or more parts riveted together so that the parts adjacent the blades 9, and the blades themselves, have machined surfaces. The parts are shaped so that the jets 10 pass across the chamber 5 and between the ejector plates 6 without touching the plates. Gas or vapour is entrained by the jets as they cross the chamber, and the mixture passes to the volute 7 for discharge. The impeller has a packing ring 15 and balancing ports 16.
