Abstract
419,872. Cathode-ray tubes. COSSOR, Ltd., A. C., Highbury Grove, London.- (Assignees of Ardenne, M. von; 19, Jungfernstieg, Lichterfeld-Ost, Berlin.) June 11, 1934, No. 17249. Convention date, June 12, 1933. [Class 39 (i).] The tube is provided with means for accelerating the electrons between the zone of deflection and the screen and with means for decelerating the electrons during their passage between the anode or gun and the deflecting zone. The decelerating and the accelerating fields may be produced by means of comb-shaped cylindrical members, the teeth of which are wedge-shaped and interengage one with the other. A central comb-shaped member 13 forms part of both the decelerating and accelerating units and is attached to a disc 11 which is electrically connected to one of a pair 4 of deflecting plates and to earth and is provided with an aperture covered with wire netting. The decelerating and accelerating systems are completed respectively by the comb-shaped member 10, attached to the anode 3, and the comb-shaped member 12 which is connected to the conducting screen 5. The voltage of the battery B may be 100 and the potential of the member 12 may be twice that of the anode. A filling of argon may be used.
