[Classes 110 (iii) and 122 (v).] In turbines in which the rotors b are formed integrally with the shaft a, rings c, which prevent direct heat transmission from the diaphragm packing to the shaft, are initially of V-section and are flattened into recesses e in the rotors. The rings may be in two or more segments. The shaft may be recessed below the rings and thrust surfaces f may be provided for the rings.
