Abstract
414,750. Machines for working land. STOREY, N. C., 13, Leathley Road, Hunslet, Leeds. Feb. 8, 1933, No. 3889. [Class 6 (i).] A rotary tilling attachment for a tractor comprises earth-working tools driven about axes inclined to the vertical and carried on a frame connected to the tractor by hinges and lifting-chains, the hinge pins being removable and the chains being detachably connected to chain drums on the tractor, so that on removing the hinge pins and disconnecting the lifting-chains and a driving-chain the attachment may be withdrawn from the tractor. The attachment comprises tines 7 carrying shares 8 and attached to supports 9 provided with spindles 12 mounted in a frame comprising a transverse plate and side plates or frames 17. The attachment is hinged on two plates 34 bolted to the gearbox 39 of the tractor. The tools are driven by chain and bevel gearing from a transverse shaft 47 driven by gearing housed in an auxiliary gearbox 38 attached to the gearbox 39. This gearing is driven from a shaft 40 extending into the gearbox 39 and connected by a sleeve connection to the tractor power-take-off shaft 41. The shaft 40 also drives gearing for driving the endless-track wheels of the tractor at a low speed, the drive being effected through a bevel pinion 54 in mesh with the bevel wheel 55 which normally drives the tractor wheels. Means for raising the tool-carrying frame comprises chains 63 connected to plates 65 and detachably connected to drums 61 driven from the front of the tractor through bevel gearing 77, 81, a shaft 72, a clutch 71, a shaft 67, and worm gearing 68, 59. Acting on the part of the clutch on the shaft 67 is a brake which is engaged when the clutch is disengaged, the clutch lever 83 being linked to an arm 100 on a cam shaft which actuates the brake. A non-reversible worm may be used with a reverse gear to drive both ways. Specifications 103,302, [Class 6 (i)], and 414,649, [Group XXXI], are referred to.
