Abstract
403,211. Minimizing rolling and pitching of ships. BAZE, W. L., 29, Rue Tronchet, Paris. Oct. 24, 1932, No. 29746. Convention date, Oct. 23, 1931. [Class 113 (i).] Pumps, 3, 4, centrifugal pumps are suitable for the purpose are mounted at the turn of the bilge at opposite sides of the ship with their outlet pipes directed downwards. Jets from these pumps are directed downwards to oppose the roll of the ship, the pumps for this purpose being provided with sliding-valves 10 operated in accordance with the direction of roll from a gyroscope. Alternatively the impeller 8 of the pump may be arranged to slide on its shaft.
