Abstract

A hard sintered material contains tungsten carbide, tantalum carbide, titanium carbide and a metal or metals of the group iron, cobalt, and nickel. The material may be prepared by pressing a mixture of the powdered constituents in the cold and sintering at a high temperature, preferably after a preliminary sintering at a lower temperature, followed by reshaping. Alternatively the pressure may be applied simultaneously with the heating at high temperature. Specification 407,395 is referred to.
