Abstract
A sintered hard alloy, more than 50 per cent of which consists of one or more borides, or one or more silicides, or a silicide-boride mixture, contains also more than 0,5 per cent of at least one refractory carbide and more than 0,5 and up to 25 per cent of a metal or metals of lower melting point, e.g. iron, nickel, manganese, or cobalt. The silicides and borides of tungsten, molybdenum, titanium, zirconium, thorium, vanadium, niobium, tantalum, chromium, and aluminium, and the carbides of tungsten, molybdenum, tantalum, and titanium, are specified as constituents.
