Abstract

398,519. Grinding screw-threads of taps &c. AKTIEBOLAGET C. E. JOHANSSON, 46, Nygatan, Eskilstuna, Sweden. March 15, 1932, No. 7708. Convention date, March 7. [Class 60.] Spindles ; wheels.-Apparatus for grinding screw-threads comprises two grinding-wheels 1, 2, the wheel 1 being secured by a flange 8, a washer 6, and a nut 7 to a cap 5 mounted on a shaft 9, and the wheel 2 being secured by a ring 11 and screws 12 to a flange 13 on a sleeve 14 secured to a sleeve 15 surrounding the shaft 9. The shaft and the sleeve are driven respectively by pulleys 10, 16 and may rotate at different speeds. The wheel 1 may be used for roughing, and may be of coarse grain and soft, the wheel 2 being used for finishing and being of finer and harder material. The wheels are spaced apart a distance equal to the pitch of the thread or a multiple thereof, and during grinding the work, for example, a tap, is rotated slowly and moved parallel to the axis of the wheels.
