Abstract
398,441. Vehicle spring suspensions. WILLMOT TRUCKS & PRODUCTS, Ltd., Ivanhoe Truck Works, Scott's Green, and COZENS, F. G., Caudebec, Himley Road, both in Dudley, Worcestershire. March 30, 1933, No. 9544. [Class 108 (ii).] A truck is adapted to rest on its end part and is provided with levers pivoted to the truck and having wheel axles such that in the "at-rest" position the peripheries of the wheels are in the same plane as the end part, the levers being adapted to move the wheels to a position below the centre of gravity of the truck when desired. Fig. 1 shows the body 1 resting on an end part 2 with the wheels 9 adjacent thereto and carried by an axle 8 mounted on levers 7 pivoted to the body at 6. A combined spring and retaining device 12, 13 is provided, the spring 12, as shown in Fig. 2, serving to act on the axle 8 in wheeling position a sleeve 5 on the pivot 6 forming an abutment, while the retaining device 13 engages the axle by a recessed part 14a, as shown in Fig. 1, a portion 14 being provided to guide the axle 8 in moving from one position to another. Fig. 5 shows a truck in which the spring 24 and the retaining device are separate and engage the arch 21 on the levers 20 as indicated.
