Abstract

396,604. Safety razors. STEVENSON, J. M., No. 3 Bungalow, Royal Air Force, Andover, Hampshire. Dec. 12, 1932, No. 35227. [Class 30.] A plural - blade razor has a number of blades 25, 33 and clamping - plate s 28, 31 each hinged at one end so as to fold bookwise over a supporting-guard 23 to which they are secured in the shaving-position, Fig. 2, by means such as a spring-catch 35 carried by the combined guard- and clamping-plate 28, or, additionally, a pair of clips at the hinged end of the top plate 31, or, alternatively or additionally, screw-and-nut means between the top plate 31 and a part mounted on the handle 1. The blades 25, 33, which are of the kind known under the registered Trade Mark "Gillette," are frictionally gripped in hinged clips 26, 30. The hinge-pin 29 for the top plate 31 and blade 33 is long and arcuate so as to allow the topplate and blade to be slidden transversely over the intermediate guard 28 to present for use alternative cutting-edges arranged in staggered relation. The blades are located by pins 24, 28A, and 34 which do not interfere with this transverse movement. The intermediate guard 28 may be hinged at the end 29 instead of 27. The Provisional Specification refers also to a razor having a single blade and clamping-plate hinged to a guard at one end.
